Detailed information is as follows, The Department of Immigration has released the occupational ceilings for the 2016-17 financial year.
The breaking news is the 4777 quotas for Accountants applicants.
The occupational ceilings apply to Skilled Independent Subclass 189 and Family Sponsored Skilled Regional (Provisional) Subclass 489 visas.
The biggest change is the increase of the occupational ceiling for accountants and auditors by almost 50%. Accountants will continuously be subject to pro rata arrangements to ensure availability of invitations across the16-17 programme year:
This could have one of two possible effects:
Increasing demand - in this case, there are more job vacancies for accountants in the market; or
A higher effective pass mark - Immigration may decide to limit the number of invitations issued to accountants each month. As a result, only the applicants with the highest points score will be invited.
Also, AEMS boldly predicted that in the new programme year higher points applicants will get invitation first but the time of the minimum-70 points has ended.
Therefore, AEMS still encourage applicants to try to apply with highest possible points.
For applicants with 65, there will be high possible to receive invitation if you have submitted EOI before July 2016. Due to the long queue in the EOI data system, applicants with 65 points should submit EOI ASAP to ensure to receive invitation. Otherwise, achieving 70 points could also help these applicants out from the hardship.
For applicants with 60 points, we do not think it will be possible for them get invited by DIBP. The only way is to try to get higher score.
The occupation ceiling for Registered Nurses was increased slightly. However, nursing still has the biggest occupation ceiling of any other occupational groups, and as the ceiling was nowhere near being filled in 2016, this indicates the great demand of these occupations in Australian Market.
AEMS: For nursing applicants, as long as you have 60 points, migrate to Australia is not a dream.
The occupational ceiling for IT Professionals has been changed in different ways. The ceiling for ICT Business and Systems Analysts and Computer Network Professionals has been reduced, while Software Applications Programmers have increased 5.3%.
In 2016, most IT occupations were filled and others near to being filled.
For 2613 applicants, 65 points will guarantee you an invitation. However, the situation of 60 points applicants is getting worse and worse. AEMS suggests all applicants with 60 points try to get extra 5 points.
For 2611 applicants, good news is there will be more than 200 new positions for this occupation. The main group applicants getting invitation is those with 70 points.
For 2631 applicants, 500 positions are gone, which is pretty sad to this occupation. In order to get invitation, try to submit EOI as earlier as possible.
The biggest change in this year for engineers is the removal of mining engineers and petroleum engineers from skilled occupation list. Overall, engineers have had a slight decrease in occupational ceiling. Engineering managers had the largest increase (28%). Civil Engineers have a reduction of 27% whereas Industrial, Mechanical and Production Engineers have slightly increased. In 2015, no engineering occupation reached its occupational ceiling last year:
2211 Accountants and auditors have almost doubled in occupational ceiling for the 2016-17 programme year.
Although there is some negative news, IT professionals are still in a positive situation. There are some more positions for Software Applications Programmers.
Except mining and petroleum engineers, other engineering occupations will remain unaffected by the changes.
