Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) visa

As part of the Permanent Employer Sponsored Visa Program, the Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186) is for skilled workers who want to work and live permanently in Australia. It involves two steps--nomination by an approved Australian employer and application under the nominated stream.

This visa is a permanent residence visa. You can​ be in or outside Australia when you apply. If you are in Australia, you must hold a substantive visa or other eligible bridging visas.

This visa has three streams:

The Direct Entry stream is for:

• people who have an occupation that is on the list of eligible skilled occupations
• people who have at least 3 years relevant work experience, unless you are exempt
• people who have a positive skills assessment, unless you are exempt
• people who are under 45 years old, unless you are exempt
• people who meet the English language requirements, unless you are exempt

The Temporary Residence Transition stream is for

• people who hold subclass 457 or TSS
• people who have worked for three years in the nominated occupation or a related field with their nominating employer (may be reduced to 2 years based on the new policy coming out by end of year 2023)
• people who have been nominated by an approved Australian employer who wants to offer you a permanent position in the nominated occupation.
• people who have met competent English language requirements, unless you are exempt

The Labour Agreement stream is for people who sponsored by an employer through a labour agreement, which is depending on specific schedules and its relevant conditions under the labour agreement signed with the Department.

$1160-Dependent Visa Applicant under 18 years old

Credit Card Surcharge applies and payable to the Department of Home Affairs if using credit card for payment

Surcharges

If you pay for your visa application charges, sponsorship or nomination fees by credit card or by PayPal, a surcharge may apply. The current surcharge rates are:

• American Express - 1.40%
• Diners Club International - 1.99%
• JCB - 1.40%
• Mastercard* - 1.40%
• PayPal - 1.01%
• Union Pay - 1.90%
• Visa* - 1.40%

*The surcharge will also apply to Debit Visa cards and Debit Mastercards when making payments.
